The Blue Star Contemporary Art Center originated from a grass-roots event in July of 1986, when local contemporary artists in need of an exhibition space decided to create an alternative contemporary art center. Blue Star was born and has since grown considerably not only receiving national attention, but today is rapidly becoming an internationally-know art organization. Despite the success, Blue Star has held on to its original intent and continues to provide a lively forum for San Antonio contemporary artists and patrons alike.

You never know what to expect at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center- local and international contemporary art and artists can be found all year round. Come for the most exciting openings, exhibitions, and enjoy food, music and drinks. Bring the family to our growing education events and programs that take place through out the year. Or, if you are an art collector, you can acquire the latest in contemporary art. Whatever your preference, Blue Star is always on the cutting edge of what’s new in the Alamo City. Exhibits change monthly, so come often, bring a friend, meet new people and support contemporary art in San Antonio.

Blue Star Contemporary Art Center membership is a wonderful way to support the mission, exhibits and programs of the institution and have the latest news and invitations on what’s happening through out the year. As a member you also receive special perks of invitations to member only events, programs and openings. Membership levels vary and most membership lasts one calendar year.
