From January 6 to February 5, 2011, Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Spain in Houston, will present an important exhibition of new work from young Spanish artists at Blue Star LAB.

This exhibition, Spanish Young Art: The New Generation reveals a fresh new vision of Spanish contemporary art.  With a selection of eight artists working in different mediums, including video, photography, painting, drawing and industrial design, the exhibition, curated by the Consulate's Cultural Advisor Tania Tapia Paz, reveals this new generation of talented you ng artists.

All of the artists selected for this exhibition were born between 1970 and 1980, a decade that spawned a whole generation of artists that have renovated the Spanish art scene.  Their work, as a whole, can best be described as "committed art, full of content and meaning".  Their creations are not outside the context in which they are generated, but interact with the reality that surrounds us, from the point of view of society, history, communication, human relationships and from the art system itself.  Withot any doubt, they are eclectic artists able to transform their visual imagination at the service of the idea.
