"When asked to curate the 25th anniversary show for Blue Star Contemporary Art Space, my thoughts turned to the history of the institution. Having kept up with the itinerary over the years I was aware of the vast, thought provoking and academic astuteness of the exhibitions presented at the space. Blue Star has been on the leading edge of contemporary art exhibiting, having covered most of the disciplines in an ever changing art climate. It is with great commitment that a group of dedicated art lovers carved out such a legacy of excellence. So, I took on the job realizing that I had a very high standard to attain and guard. It is with great pleasure that I found the San Antonio art community ready to accept the challenge. After a review of the talented group of artists presented, I selected an exhibition that reflects an overview of the range and variety of many different forms of art making in the current global art atmosphere. I found the city to be rich with talent and a delight in which to select an exhibition to reflect its artistic strength. Though, I must say it was difficult to select out of all of the work presented the 28 participating artists in this show. I selected a group that I hope will show the diverse, rich, talent of the San Antonio art community. As an artist/gallery owner/curator, I have observed the art community from many viewpoints and I realize by the nature of the beast, that art is a love affair with the unknown and to be a part of it you must have a relentless commitment to make art and participate, no matter the course or outcome. I hope all to enjoy. Thank you, Wayne Gilbert"
