Topographies of Grace
In conjunction with Catherine Lee’s exhibition, Emergence, Blue Star Contemporary welcomes the Shay Ishii Dance Company for a number of site specific performances. The group will perform a unique version of Topographies of Grace. The dance is a choreography that utilizes Lee’s Ishii sculptures, part of the Blue Star exhibition. The Ishii sculptures take a form similar to some of Lee’s previous bronze works but were constructed with this collaborative performance in mind. Performances will be hosted at Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum during the opening of Catherine Lee's Emergence exhibition on Thursday September 4th at 7pm and 8pm. A performance will be held during First Friday the following evening, Friday September 5th at 7:30pm. An additional performance will be hosted during First Friday on November 7th at 7:30pm. The Shay Ishii Dance Company is based in central Texas and combines elements of classical, modern, and contemporary dance in their choreography. See the Shay Ishii Dance Co. perform Topographies of Grace on stage at Texas State University's Performing Arts Center in San Marcos on September 12th and 13th at 7:30pm. Ticket information for those events available here.
