Photosynthesize Youth Art Workshop with Jenelle Esparza
Blue Star Contemporary welcomes young artists, ages 12-15 years old, for Photosynthesize, an art workshop with Gallery 4 exhibiting artist Jenelle Esparza.
Students will participate in an alternative photographic process called the cyanotype. The activity will include the use of a digital negative and scavenging around the grounds of Blue Star to find natural artifacts to create an arrangement of designs around their image. In addition to collecting natural objects from outside such as leaves, twigs, and rocks, students may also bring their own natural objects to the workshop from a favorite tree, plant, garden, their own home, or pretty much anywhere. The students will be working outdoors as well as spending time in a makeshift darkroom to learn how to process cyanotype images and create meaningful compositions based on the artists’ own process.
