Blue Star Basics
Blue Star Basics is a free Saturday art program for high school students taught by Studio Manager Alex Rubio. The program is divided into two sessions: Basic Drawing and Basic Painting. This two-step approach provides each student with the fundamental skills necessary to advance their artistic abilities.
Basic Drawing: June 15th- July 20th (Saturday Only) 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Students will explore the basic elements and principals of two-dimensional drawing using media that may include graphite, conte, and charcoal on paper. The focus of this course is the development of skills necessary for free-hand drawing, sketching, and rendering.
Basic Painting: July 27th- August 31st (Saturday Only) 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Emphasis will be placed on developing confidence in using oil paint as a primary medium for artistic expression. Students will learn about oil painting media including oil color, linseed oil, liquin, and galkyd mediums. Lessons will cover a wide variety of techniques including glazing, texture, color theory, and blending.
Please fill out the form and mail to 116 Blue Star, San Antonio, Texas 78204. Applications are due Monday, June 10th for the first session and Monday, July 15th for the second session.
